<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">In case you aren’t already aware, I’m reaching out today to share that the German Studies Department has introduced a new major option:
<b>German Studies: Cultural Studies.</b> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:black;background:white">This major provides students with intermediate to advanced competency in German, analytical skills, intercultural competence, and the ability to work across disciplines. As opposed
to the German Studies major option, <b>the Cultural Studies pathway only requires completion of the second year of German language study (GERMAN 203),</b> making it easier for students pursuing a major in a complimentary field to also complete a degree in

<a href="https://german.washington.edu/german-club-events">German Club’s weekly meeting</a>. Professor Jason Groves and I will be presenting a short overview of the major, providing handouts on the major, and answering any student questions. Students can
